Christina Darnell is an artist based in Dana Point, California, where she lives with her husband and three children. Though originally from Chicago, she’s always felt drawn to the beach- captivated by its calm, its color, and the way time seems to slow down by the shore.

Her work started with a personal project; she wanted to make something meaningful for her own home. That led her to secondhand surfboards, objects full of character, stories, and saltwater history.

Christina finds inspiration in the process of sourcing each board, often speaking with former owners about the board’s history, the places it’s been, and the memories tied to it. She transforms the boards into story-rich pieces by wrapping each one by hand in natural, organic materials- giving it a new identity while honoring its past. The process is quiet and focused, offering a thoughtful pause from the noise of everyday life.

Her work is rooted in sustainability and storytelling-letting each board ride a second set with a new finish and quiet presence.
